Nightlife is an abstract work and intuitive acrylic and mixed media work using muted colours, mark making, collage and paint to create a nuanced work reflective of the sights and sounds of a night out in the city.
I’ve used several techniques whilst creating this painting. I love to create works that are intuitive and expressive with many layers, textures and surprising elements. The colours and mark-making are strong, but still playful and generous. The anticipation of the neon lights and evening happenings is evident. Works that are borne from how things make me feel - not necessarily the image I am seeing. All my works hark back to where my mind has taken me to, and this piece is no different.
Although smaller in size, this work will create a beautiful statement when hung in the right space. It is optimistic and expectant, but also simple. It will draw you in and you will find many moments within the work that will bring you joy. Suitable for home or office.
