Summer Haze On Glasshouse is a wistfully expressive abstract work inspired by the heat and colourful haze over the Glasshouse Mountains. The Glasshouse Mountains sit behind the Sunshine Coasts coastal strip, and are a beautiful green, cool, forested area which is a wonderful place to escape the sometimes overbearing heat of the coast. Looking out over the amazing views of the volcanic remnants which form amazingly sculptural forms (referenced in the work) through the summer heat, the vista can have a heat haze washing over it which bounces light and shadows in the most playful way. A gorgeously colourful work for a lovely restful area.
I’ve used several techniques whilst creating this painting. I love to create works that are intuitive and expressive with many layers, textures and surprising elements. Works that are borne from how things make me feel - not necessarily the image I am seeing. All my works hark back to where my mind has taken me to, and this piece is no different. Painted in cool tones with subtle geometric mark-making suggesting the play of light over this spectacular vista.
This is a larger work that will make a beautiful statement when hung in your space. It is cool, fresh and striking, and holds many areas of beauty and interest. Suitable for home or office.
