The Quiet Of An Outback Evening explores the serenity and vastness of outback Australia at night, highlighting the beauty and stillness of this ancient and amazing space. Reflections of history and story reflecting in the night light.
I’ve used several techniques whilst creating this painting. I love to create works that are intuitive and expressive with many layers, textures and surprising elements. The solidity and vastness of the dark sky juxtaposed against the neutrals and warms of still hot sands reference the heat of this space and the thousands of years of history. The colours and mark-making are strong and respectful. Works that are borne from how things make me feel - not necessarily the image I am seeing. All my works hark back to where my mind has taken me to, and this piece is no different.
Although smaller in size, this work will create a beautiful statement when hung in the right space. It is dynamic and strong, but also simple. It will draw you in and you will find many moments within the work that will bring you joy. Suitable for home or office.
