Turbulence - (The Renegade) is part of the Yellow Series. A bold and expressive painting exploring emotional turbulence through layered abstraction. It earned the nickname of ‘The Renegade’ as it was determined not to follow the ‘yellow’ theme of the series of which it was/is a part. I love that it had it’s own agenda, and held it’s ground - despite my futile efforts of trying to bring it ‘into line’. It was determined to be what it wanted to be, and now is. A trait that I whole-heartedly embrace within both my life and artworks.
I’ve used several techniques whilst creating this painting. I love to create works that are intuitive and expressive with many layers, textures and surprising elements. The wildness of the random mark-making offset by the formed lettering of some of the collage components create a beautiful balance. Works that are borne from how things make me feel - not necessarily the image I am seeing. All my works hark back to where my mind has taken me to, and this piece is no different.
Although smaller in size, this work will create a beautiful piece of beach and surf when hung in your space. It is simple and brimming with expectation. It holds many moments within the work that will bring you joy. Suitable for home or office.
