Mrs. Simpson's Garden

Mrs. Simpson’s Garden is a bold and striking work. This piece is homage to a wonderful Physical Culture teacher I had through my formative years. The writing in this piece is hers, and the colours are reminiscent of the leotards that we wore when young. She had a profound impact on who I became, and I love that this work will always be around in memory of her. These little works are able to be hung or self-standing.

I’ve used several techniques whilst creating this painting. I love to create works that are intuitive and expressive with many layers, textures and surprising elements. The random mark-making offset by the collage components create a beautiful balance. Works that are borne from how things make me feel - not necessarily the image I am seeing. All my works hark back to where my mind has taken me to, and this piece is no different.

Although smaller in size, this work will create a beautiful moment when placed in your space. It is simple and brimming with expectation. Suitable for home or office.
